Benue Governor visits family of slain aid worker

Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, paid a visit to the family of the late humanitarian, Chris Terfa-Ikpu, and urged for the immediate apprehension of those responsible for the assassination.

Terfa-Ikpu was tragically murdered by unknown gunmen who tracked him down to his office situated on Nyesom Wike Road, Makurdi, on Friday evening.

Accompanied by senior government officials, the governor expressed deep sorrow over the loss and offered his condolences to the family, friends, and associates of the deceased.

In an official statement, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, mentioned, “The governor highlighted the significant contributions of the deceased individual to the healthcare and human rights sectors, especially his advocacy for marginalized groups in the HIV/AIDS battle.”

“The governor praised the swift response of Daniel Ezeala, the Divisional Police Officer of E Division, and his team, in the ongoing investigation to uncover more details and identify the perpetrators. He was informed that a suspect was already in custody and cooperating.

“Further, the governor instructed all security agencies in the state to pursue and ensure the arrest of the culprits and anyone linked to this heinous crime.”

Alia assured the public that the government was dedicated to ensuring quick delivery of justice.

Before his unfortunate demise, Terfa-Ikpu served as the National Chairperson of the National Key Population Health and Rights Network and was also the Executive Director of Concerned Youth for Development Initiative.
