Benue gov suspends APC primary election over irregularities

The primary election for the All Progressives Congress for the Guma 1 State Constituency has been immediately suspended by Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia. This decision comes as a result of irregularities and insecurity marring the delegate election. The seat in the State House of Assembly became vacant after the resignation of Dr.Yamar Ortese, who was appointed a commissioner. An eyewitness reported irregularities at the venue of the primary, drawing the attention of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Paul Biam. This ultimately led to the suspension of the election by Alia, who emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and security in the state. The governor expressed concern over potential unrest and urged party stakeholders to help maintain the peace. He also called on the National Working Committee of the party to ensure that the right actions are taken.
