Khafi Kareem, a former BBNaija housemate, has bravely disclosed that she was a victim of rape while participating in a Twitter discussion on rape and sexual violence against women.

 

She explained her decision not to report her rapist, admitting that he apologized immediately after the incident and she convinced herself that his intoxication was a valid excuse.

 

Khafi also shared the heartbreaking experience of confiding in someone about the assault, only to be blamed for it.

 

The reality star chose to speak out about her own ordeal in the hopes of inspiring other victims to come forward and share their own stories.

 

She wrote: ‘#WhyIDidntReport – because he apologised right after. Because I made myself believe him being drunk was an excuse. Because the one person I did tell said I caused it. Because I felt dirty and ashamed. #WeAreTired.’

 

‘Yes, this did happen to me. I’m sharing in the hope that others will feel no shame in sharing what happened to them. Please don’t deflect or say it is not my story when it was already hard enough sharing it.’
