Bauchi Civil Service Commission takes action against two officers for involvement in exam malpractice

Two senior civil servants in the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (BSCSC) have been demoted due to their participation in alleged examination malpractice, which constituted gross misconduct and violated the established rules and regulations of the Service.

This decision was reached during the Commission’s 27th and 28th plenary sessions held recently.

In a statement released to the press by Saleh Umar, the Information Officer of the Commission, it was revealed that Shamsuddeen Baban Takko, a Senior Executive Officer (General) at the Bauchi State Agency for Mass Education (BASAME), and Sadiya Abdullahi, a Higher Assistant Education Officer in the same agency, were the affected officers.

During the Civil Service Promotion Examination held on March 30, 2024, Shamsuddeen Baban was found to have taken the exam on behalf of Sadiya Abdullahi, breaching the Public Service Rules (PSR) 0312 (xii) a and b.

Consequently, Shamsuddeen Baban, previously on GL-09, was demoted to GL-08, while Sadiya Abdullahi was moved from GL-08 to GL-07.

The Commission’s Chairman, Alh. Abubakar Usman, emphasized that this action underscores the Commission’s dedication to upholding integrity and fairness in the promotion examination process, ensuring that promotions are based on merit and performance.

He also mentioned that promotions for some other officers were formalized, and strict measures against exam malpractices have been implemented to enhance efficiency within the Service.

The promoted staff were urged to demonstrate their commitment to their duties in response to this gesture.
