Barham Saleh, Iraq’s President ‘condemns’ Iran missile strikes

Barham Saleh, the President of Iraq, denounced the Iranian missile strikes that targeted air bases occupied by US and other foreign troops in the country on Wednesday, January 8.

Expressing concern about “dangerous developments” in the region, Saleh rejected the repeated violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and the country being turned into a battleground for warring factions.

In a statement from his office, Saleh said;

“We denounce the Iranian missile bombing that hit military installations on Iraqi territory and renew our rejection of the repeated violation of state sovereignty and the transformation of Iraq into a battlefield for warring sides.”

The United States Government confirmed that there were no American casualties in the missile airstrike on Tehran, the capital of Iran.
