Barau, Kalu Celebrate Ganduje’s Rise as APC National Chairman


The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has commended the appointment of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Similarly, Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has offered his congratulations to Ganduje on his selection as the APC national chairman.

In a statement issued by his special adviser on Media & Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Barau stated that with the former governor in charge of the APC, the ruling party will be rejuvenated and fortified for the benefit of all its members.

Ganduje was elected as the national chairman during the 12th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ruling party, which took place at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja on Thursday.

Barau, who also congratulated Senator Ajibola Basiru on his appointment as the National Secretary of the APC, remarked that the APC’s conflict resolution mechanism would be improved to minimize internal disputes, thanks to the vast experience of the former Kano State governor.

“His Excellency is coming on board with extensive experience in politics and governance that spans several decades. With him leading our party, internal democracy will prevail. We express our gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, governors, and other stakeholders of our party for endorsing His Excellency, Ganduje,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who also congratulated Basiru on his appointment as APC national secretary, described Ganduje and Basiru as wise men with great administrative acumen.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, the deputy speaker expressed his belief that the party’s fortunes would be elevated due to the political backgrounds and wealth of experience possessed by the new leaders in governance.
