The easing of the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun, and the FCT will begin on Monday, May 4. The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID19 has released the guidelines for this phase.

According to the National coordinator of the Presidential taskforce on COVID19, Sani Aliyu, interstate travels will remain banned, except for essential services. In the case of intrastate activities, banks are permitted to open from 8am to 2pm while adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines.

Schools will remain closed, and restaurants will also remain shut, although they can carry out home deliveries. Concerts and recreational activities remain suspended for the time being.

Government offices will gradually resume operations from May 4, with specific grade levels and days designated to reduce congestion. Additionally, banks will have restricted opening hours, and agricultural companies and rural development operations will be allowed to commence.

Boss Mustapha, chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID19, emphasized the need for office management to fumigate and decontaminate their premises before resuming operations. He also announced that passenger flights remain under a ban.

These measures mark the first steps in the gradual easing of the lockdown as announced by President Buhari. The nationwide curfew from 8pm to 6am will also take effect.
