Ballon d’Or: Jordan Henderson names player to win award

Former Liverpool skipper, Jordan Henderson has picked his choice of the best player in the world this year.

The England midfielder was provided the option of choosing between Spanish midfielder, Rodri and Jude Bellingham of England.

Rodri and Bellingham are among the top favorites for this year’s Ballon d’Or award following a brilliant individual campaign for club and country.

Rodri was instrumental as Manchester City won the historic treble last year and also helped Pep Guardiola’s side secure a fourth consecutive Premier League title win in 2024.

The midfielder was named the Player of the Tournament as Spain won the European championship on Sunday.

For Bellingham, the Englishman scored 23 goals and made 13 assists in his first season at Real Madrid, helping them lift La Liga and Champions League honours.

The playmaker was also a part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad that finished as runners-up at Euro 2024.

In a video making the rounds online, several Ajax players were asked to predict this year’s Ballon d’Or winner, including Henderson.

Henderson, who left Saudi Arabia side, Al-Ettifaq to join Ajax in January, initially chose Rodri, but later asked if he could change his answer:

“I just want to change my answer…is that alright? Can I change?”

After being given the greenlight, Hernderson promptly said “Bellingham”.

Three other players also picked Bellingham, while the majority of them went with either Vinicius or Rodri.
