ASCN President Alleges Police Interference in Defiance of Court Order

Comrade Innocent Bola Audu, the President of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), has accused the Nigerian Police Force of undermining a recent ruling by the National Industrial Court in Abuja that reinstated him as the association’s president.

Audu’s suspension by the ASCSN Central Working Committee and subsequent expulsion by the National Working Committee were deemed unlawful by Justice Oyewumi Oyebiola on July 9, 2024.

The court ordered Audu’s reinstatement as the ASCSN President until the completion of his tenure, denouncing the actions taken against him as null and void.

Despite having the certified court order, Audu has faced obstacles in resuming his duties as president.

In a statement released on Monday, Audu criticized the police’s handling of the situation, alleging complicity in defying the court order.

He urged Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to intervene and uphold justice in the matter.

Audu expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of respect for the court’s ruling by those responsible for hindering his return to office.

He highlighted the hindrance posed by the police in his efforts to resume his duties and called for their withdrawal from the office.

At a meeting with the FCT Commissioner of Police, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Simon Lough, reiterated the validity of the court judgment, addressing those impeding Audu’s reinstatement.
