Arsene Wenger’s Regret Over Gareth Southgate’s Resignation

Arsene Wenger, the legendary manager of Arsenal, recently expressed a significant regret in light of Gareth Southgate’s resignation as England’s manager.

Southgate decided to step down from his role just a day after England lost 2-1 to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

In reflection, Wenger shared that he wished he had advised Southgate to take more time to contemplate his future before making a decision.

During the Olympic Gala of Champions, Wenger mentioned, “I had the opportunity to speak with [Southgate] after the final, but I forgot to convey a crucial message: ‘Don’t rush into a decision.’ It’s common to feel like resigning in the immediate aftermath of a major final defeat.”

“That’s my only regret,” Wenger added.

As of now, England has yet to announce a replacement for Southgate, although several coaches have been rumored to be in the running for the position.
