Arrest of suspected armed bandit in Niger state

Niger state police have apprehended a man suspected of being an armed bandit, named Ibrahim Mohammed.

 

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, Mohammed was apprehended on June 13 during a stop and search operation along the Minna-Sarkin Pawa road by officers from the Sarkin-Pawa Division.

 

The police stopped and arrested a cyclist with two passengers. During a search, one of the passengers, later identified as Mohammed a.k.a Shagari from Mayigara Zaria LGA in Kaduna State, was found in possession of an Ak49 Rifle. His accomplice managed to escape into the forest.

 

Abiodun mentioned that during questioning, Mohammed admitted to being part of an armed bandit group that terrorizes Sarkin-Pawa, Shiroro, and the surrounding areas.

 

The case is currently under investigation.
