Armenia's prime minister tests positive for Coronavirus

The prime minister of Armenia is confirmed to have tested positive for the Coronavirus, along with members of his family. Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister, disclosed this information in a self-recorded video message posted on Facebook on Monday June 1. In the video, Pashinyan revealed that his wife, Anna Hakobyan, a journalist, and their four children also tested positive for the virus. Despite being asymptomatic, the Prime Minister stated that he will continue to work from home.

In his announcement, Pashinyan also acknowledged that his government had not effectively implemented anti-virus measures, leading to widespread quarantine violations. This revelation comes in the wake of health officials in the country indicating that intensive care treatment may soon be limited to patients with the highest chance of survival. Armenia has recorded 9,492 cases of the coronavirus and 139 deaths.
