Appointment of Gbeleyi as DG of BPE by Tinubu

The Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, has been appointed by President Bola Tinubu, with Ayodeji Gbeleyi taking up the role.

A statement released on Saturday by Presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale confirmed this decision.

Gbeleyi, a distinguished financial expert and award-winning chartered accountant, has been selected for the position.

With over 30 years of post-qualification experience across various sectors such as manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), investment & commercial banking, project finance, telecommunications, infrastructure, and public administration.

Previously serving as the board Chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and as Commissioner of Finance in Lagos State from 2013 to 2015, Gbeleyi brings a wealth of expertise to his new role.

Tinubu has encouraged Gbeleyi to utilize his extensive knowledge and skills to enhance the agency’s role as a national resource center for capacity building and reform sustainability.

His responsibilities include driving the BPE to foster a competitive private sector-led economy, ensuring social accountability and efficient utilization of public resources, and promoting effective corporate governance and fiduciary discipline in both public and private sectors.

Notably, Tinubu had relieved Mamman Ahmadu of his duties as the Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, BPP.
