Appeal from Adeleke for Solidarity Among Osun Monarchs

The call for traditional rulers in Osun State to bolster unity among themselves has been made by the State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

During the coronation of his wife, Mrs Ngozi Adeleke, as the Erelu Soludero of Erinmo Ijesa, Adeleke conveyed this message.

Commending the Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesa, Oba Odunayo Ajayi, for conferring the title upon his wife, Adeleke, represented by the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Tola Faseru, highlighted it as a heartfelt display of affection and respect towards his family.

In a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, released in Osogbo on Saturday, Adeleke’s words were included: “I convey my sincere congratulations to my beloved wife for this recognition and to the family. This traditional title signifies the continuous dedication of our government and the Adeleke family to assist the people of the state. I appreciate Kabiyesi for this honor. It will motivate us to do even more for Osun State.”

Extending felicitations on the royal father’s coronation anniversary, Adeleke also stressed the importance of royal institutions by stating: “The contributions from our royal institutions to communal and state development are priceless. In times of adversity, our royal fathers offer crucial guidance and moral backing, which help maintain governance stability and advocate for good administration.”

“Our administration stands committed to upholding the influence of traditional rulers and seeking their sagacity. We are dedicated to bringing the advantages of democracy to our people and enhancing their standard of living, while also encouraging traditional rulers to nurture cohesion in traditional councils.

“We must avoid actions that breed disunity and fragmentation. A unified traditional council will amplify the capability of our royal fathers to impact government policies. The increasing indications of division are worrying and pose a threat to the essence of our traditional institutions.”
