Appeal Court Removes Abure as Labour Party’s National Chairman

In a surprising turn of events, Julius Abure has been ousted as the National Chairman of the Labour Party by the Court of Appeal in Owerri.

The court’s judgment also upholds Lamidi Apapa as the rightful National Chairman of the party.

Furthermore, the court has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately acknowledge and publish the names of all the governorship candidates put forward by the Apapa-led National Working Committee (NWC) in Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi states.

The court has also dismissed Senator Athan Achonu, who was the governorship candidate of Imo State, and others affiliated with the Abure-led faction of the Labour Party.

It is worth mentioning that on August 14, the Court of Appeal in Benin, Edo State, had previously affirmed Abure as the chairman of LP.
