APGA Notifies INEC and ISIEC Prior to Imo LG Polls

As the Imo State Local Council Polls are set to be held on September 21 in all 27 local councils, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has informed the State offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) about a change in the party’s leadership in the state.

The party deemed this change necessary following a recent Supreme Court ruling that affirmed Edozie Njoku as the legitimate National Chairman of APGA. This adjustment aims to ensure a smooth participation in the upcoming LGA elections in the State.

This development was communicated during a press conference in Owerri, the State Capital, by the National Delegate led by Muhyideen Imam, the National Secretary of APGA.

The purpose of their visit was to notify relevant authorities, agencies, and the public that Chief Edozie Njoku is now recognized by INEC as the authentic National Chairman of the party. The National Secretary emphasized that this leadership change at the national level has been reflected in the state, with the 10-man Caretaker Committee led by Chief Vincent Amadi acknowledged as the official Executive Committee in the State.

Party members aspiring to contest in the September 21 LG elections were advised to align with Chief Vincent Amadi’s leadership and disregard Bar. John Iwuala’s led State Exco to prevent any fraudulent activities. Aspirants who previously obtained nomination and expression of interest forms under the previous leadership were urged to regularize and revalidate their forms at the new State secretariat at No. 144 Wetheral Road, Owerri.

Key members of the new Caretaker Committee include Kingsley Osigwe, Henry Opara, Henry Eweama, Philip Onye, Basil Eneremadu, and Henry Oparaocha.

Additionally, the National Vice Chairman of APGA, South East, Hon. Tony Uchechukwudi Ezekwelu, assured all party members of inclusivity and a successful participation in the LG elections as well as other elections nationwide.

Following the recent leadership change, APGA has also written to the Nigerian Army, Police, Department of State Security Service (DSS), and the Imo State Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) to recognize only Edozie Njoku, as endorsed by the party’s national leadership.
