APC Urges IG to Detain Plotters of Ganduje’s Suspension

Calling on Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the All Progressives Congress has lodged a complaint to pursue nine individuals believed to have orchestrated the suspension of its National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, at the ward level in Kano State.

Delivered to PUNCH Online on Thursday, the APC National Legal Adviser, Prof. Abdulkareem Kana, penned the two-page request.

The move follows a court injunction obtained by Ganduje at a Federal High Court in Kano to halt his alleged suspension.

The ruling was granted on Wednesday after Ganduje filed an ex parte motion seeking to assert his right to a fair hearing.

However, in Thursday’s plea, Kana listed nine supposed culprits purportedly responsible for the “fabricated suspension announcement” and urged Egbetokun to apprehend and investigate their role in the suspension.

The correspondence stated: “Specifically, on April 15, 2024, Auwalu Galadima Jemomi and his associates, posing as Party Executives of the APC from Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government, Kano State, erroneously issued a press release suspending our National Chairman, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, from the party. This unauthorized and deceptive statement has generated significant confusion and unrest among our members and the public.

“Such impersonation and dissemination of false information are not only illicit but also hold the potential to disrupt public tranquility. Hence, I implore the Nigerian Police Force to promptly investigate this issue and detain Auwalu Galadima Jemomi and his associates involved in this deceitful act.

“Furthermore, I urge the police to uncover and probe any backers or collaborators connected to this scenario beyond those explicitly mentioned in this petition. I have confidence in the Nigerian Police Force’s dedication to upholding justice and ensuring that cases of impersonation and false declarations are effectively handled to prevent future incidents.”
