APC kicks, rejects INEC verdict on Ondo guber primary

APC in Ondo State Rejects INEC’s Verdict on Gubernatorial Primary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State strongly opposes the conclusions drawn by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the alleged irregularities during the party’s primary on April 20.

Expressing disbelief at the report, the APC labeled INEC’s decision as “shocking.”

Despite the reported irregularities, the party has advised its members in the state to stay focused on the upcoming November 16 governorship election.

INEC officials who monitored the shadow election in the state’s 203 political wards documented various irregularities, including delays in the arrival of electoral materials in certain areas and improper handling of election results.

Alex Kalejaye, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, accused certain party members of scheming to discredit the entire process.

“Elections were conducted in all 18 local government areas of the state. Though there were issues in Ifedore and Ilaje local government areas,” Kalejaye stated.

“While the results in Ifedore were nullified entirely, only specific wards in Ilaje, about four in number, were affected and consequently cancelled.

“The cancellations were made to emphasize the transparency of the overall process and validate its fairness.

“The voting power of our members in the affected regions was insufficient to undermine the credibility of the process or impact the margin of victory for the candidate.

“Therefore, the party questions the reliability of the report allegedly released by an INEC representative.

“The party urges its vast supporters to disregard the false report and concentrate on the primary goal: winning the gubernatorial election and securing Ondo State for the APC,” Kalejaye concluded.
