Court Reverses Suspension of Ganduje: Reaction from APC Coalition

In response to a recent Federal High Court ruling in Kano State that overturned the suspension of APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Coalition Against Terrorism has issued a statement.

The court’s decision on Wednesday followed Ganduje’s filing of an ex parte motion to uphold his right to a fair hearing, as reported by NewsNow.

During a press briefing on Thursday, the coalition’s president, Terrence Kuanum, welcomed the court order, emphasizing concerns about the suspension being announced by individuals not affiliated with APC.

Kuanum expressed, “The recent media coverage on the suspension of APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje CON by his Ganduje ward raised alarms. The ward’s 27 executive members, including the legal adviser, disowned the suspension, asserting that those behind it were not party members or officials.”

Highlighting the issuance of a restraining order by Justice Usman Mallam Na’abba of the Kano State High Court against non-party members involved in the suspension, Kuanum raised questions about political interference in the judiciary.

He continued, “Today’s court order, granted by Hon. Justice A. M. Lima of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Kano Judicial Division, restrains any action stemming from the disputed emergency meeting at Ganduje Ward pending a fair hearing. This ensures the due process of law.”

Commending Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, for maintaining the judiciary’s integrity, Kuanum concluded, “The judicial system’s credibility is reinforced by this decision, restoring faith in it.”
