Over the weekend, Damian Ali, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC, was reportedly beaten to death by the owner of a pharmaceutical store in Owerri, the Imo state capital.
SP Orlando Ikeokwu, the state police command spokesperson, confirmed the incident and stated that the deceased was attacked by the owner of a pharmacy and his staff when he attempted to park his vehicle in front of their outfit located at Umuguma Roundabout.
Ali, who had no intention of purchasing anything from the pharmacy, tried to park his vehicle and informed the pharmacy workers that he wanted to do something nearby. The pharmacy worker’s refusal to allow him to park his vehicle led to an argument which escalated into a physical altercation.
At the scene of the incident, Damian slumped and was later confirmed dead.
Ikeokwu mentioned that the suspect turned himself in to the police. Additionally, the state commissioner of police, Olaniyi Fafowora, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident.
