APC chairmanship candidate shot dead by gunmen weeks to Kaduna LG elections

The unfortunate demise of the APC chairmanship candidate for Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Cashman Alamkah Dominic Usman, has been reported. He was fatally shot by unknown assailants while traveling on the Keffi-Akwanga road in Nassarawa state on his way to Benue state on Monday, July 26.

Usman, who was the APC flag-bearer for the local government council elections scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 14, 2021, will be laid to rest on Thursday, July 29. The incident occurred just weeks before the Kaduna LG elections, adding a somber tone to the upcoming political event.

It is worth noting that the election of chairmen/councillors in all the 23 local government areas of Kaduna state had previously been scheduled for Saturday, June 5, 2021, but it was postponed due to the non-arrival of imported items meant for the conduct of the polls. This tragic event has cast a shadow over the local political landscape and has deeply affected the APC community.

The loss of the esteemed candidate has sparked widespread mourning, and his memory will be cherished by many. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
