APC Calls for Transparency in Fertilizer Procurement Deal by Zamfara Government

Accusations have been made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State against the state government concerning the procurement of fertilizers for farmers at an allegedly inflated price.

In a statement released by Yusuf Idris Gusau, the Publicity Secretary of the party, it was claimed that the government bought 75 trailer loads of fertilizer for N38.5 billion, equating to N855,000 per bag.

Furthermore, the APC accused the government of providing conflicting information regarding the number of trailers purchased, with discrepancies between the figures provided by the governor and the PDP.

The party has demanded that the government clarify the discrepancies and provide accurate figures related to the fertilizer procurement.

The party raised concerns about the lack of transparency and accountability in the fertilizer deal, questioning the high costs involved and calling for an investigation by anti-graft agencies to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

Gusau emphasized the need for the government to be forthcoming with information and to address the concerns raised by the opposition party.

As of the time of reporting, there has been no response from either the state government or the PDP regarding these allegations.
