Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo, has been included in the 197-member list unveiled by the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress to spearhead its governorship campaign in the state for the upcoming September 21 election.
The embattled deputy governor’s reinstatement came after a Federal High Court in Abuja nullified his earlier dismissal by the Edo House of Assembly three months ago.
In a ruling, Judge James Omotosho deemed Shaibu’s impeachment by the state assembly as illegitimate.
According to the list issued by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, Bassey Otu, the Governor of Cross River State, has been appointed as the campaign train’s chairman.
Assisting Otu will be Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda and former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who will serve as co-chairman and deputy chairman, respectively.
Other members of the 197-person list include Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (Assistant Secretary), Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other APC-elected governors.
