Another Market in Borno Destroyed by Fire

Fire razes another market in Borno
The popular Gamboru Market in Maiduguri, Borno State, has been engulfed by a fire, resulting in the destruction of goods worth millions of Naira.

The fire outbreak was reported to have started around 2pm on Saturday, March 18, 2023, prompting the deployment of fire service officers to the scene.

This incident occurred just a few days after a fire had gutted the Monday market in Maiduguri.

The market, which is the second-largest in the city after the burnt Monday market, has now suffered a similar fate.

Commenting on the incident, Abdu Umar, the Borno commissioner of police, mentioned the presence of security operatives at the scene.

Umar informed about the deployment of about five firefighting trucks to the scene in efforts to contain the situation.

As the fire continued to ravage more structures, several traders were observed struggling to salvage their property from the rubble, while others watched helplessly.
