Another goal by Arokodare as Genk secures a victory

Striker Tolu Arokodare of Genk scored his second goal in the 2024/25 Belgian Junior Pro League during Sunday’s tense 3-2 win against the reigning champions Club Brugge at the Cegeka Arena, PUNCH Sports Arena.

With Genk trailing 2-0 against their opponents, Arokodare leveled the score at 2-2 with seven minutes remaining on the clock.

Club Brugge’s Skov Olsen opened the scoring just before halftime and doubled the lead for the champions in the 60th minute. However, Jarne Steuckers converted a penalty to reduce Gent’s deficit.

Steuckers then set up Arokodare for the equalizer in the 83rd minute, and Slovakian midfielder Patrik Hrosovsky completed the comeback for Genk in stoppage time.

This marks Arokodare’s consecutive goals for the Belgian side in just three games this season. In the previous match, he scored his first goal of the season with an assist from compatriot Yira Sor in a 3-1 loss to Ohio Leuven.

With his current form, he is on track to surpass his tally from last season when he scored 15 goals and provided three assists in 52 matches for the club.

Prior to the current season, there were rumors linking the 23-year-old to a move to Turkish club Trabzonspor, which his agent has since dismissed. Arokodare joined Genk in January 2023 on a contract lasting until 2027.
