An Alleged Physical Altercation Involving Montpellier’s Mamadou Sakho and His Manager

Update: Former Liverpool defender, Mamadou Sakho

Mamadou Sakho, previously a player for Liverpool, is said to be suspended by Montpellier following an alleged physical altercation with his manager after a training session on Tuesday.

Reports claim that the 33-year-old French defender is under investigation and may face dismissal. According to L’Equipe, Sakho allegedly grabbed his manager, Michel Der Zakarian, by the collar and knocked him down in front of witnesses during a training ground disagreement.

The incident reportedly stemmed from Sakho’s dissatisfaction with Der Zakarian’s decision during training, leading to a confrontation where Sakho reportedly left the training pitch.

Allegedly, Der Zakarian provoked Sakho by remarking that the training session was ‘not à la carte,’ resulting in Sakho’s aggressive reaction.

Intervention from players and staff members reportedly prevented the situation from escalating further.

As per L’Equipe, Sakho is currently suspended and is expected to face a hearing with the club in the coming week.

Sakho was reportedly informed of his suspension early on Wednesday, disrupting his usual training routine.

Pending the internal investigation, Sakho could potentially be dismissed for his alleged misconduct.

This incident unfolds as Sakho’s stint at Montpellier faces uncertainty following the reported altercation with the team’s manager, after his spells at Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
