An Alleged Kidnapping Incident In Kogi Involving the Chairman of Kabba Bunu Caretaker Committee

Reports have surfaced detailing the alleged kidnapping of Zacheous Dare Michael, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, purportedly by unknown gunmen along the Kabba-Okene expressway in Kogi State on Friday evening.

Michael, who is said to be vying for the chairmanship position of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the local government ahead of the scheduled Kogi State council polls on October 19, 2024, had attended a meeting in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, prior to his abduction.

According to sources, armed kidnappers fired shots at Michael’s vehicle before seizing him and others in his entourage, as confirmed by a security source in Kogi State on Friday evening.

In response to the incident, the WhatsApp platform, Owe Political Platform, shared a message: “A confirmed report indicates that the CTC chairman and some of his aides, including Bank Andrew, have been abducted by unknown gunmen. We appeal for prayers for their safe release and urge anyone with credible rescue information to contact the police. May God intervene and touch the hearts of those responsible.”

Despite attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Ovye Aya, no response was received to calls and messages at the time of this report.
