Alleged Plot to Remove Me in 2023 Due to Threat – Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole has expressed that there are individuals seeking to oust him from his position as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in anticipation of the 2023 elections.

Speaking to journalists at the State House in Abuja following a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, March 5, the former Governor of Edo State emphasized that those planning his removal perceive him as a threat to their agenda.

He further stated that those spearheading the “anti-Oshiomhole campaign” are ineffectual politicians who lack the capability to secure a leadership role in the party.

“I have exerted my utmost effort both as a governor and as the chairman of this party. Those fighting against me believe that if they cannot control me, they must strive to tarnish my reputation. However, I have faith that with God’s support, no one can bring me down.”

“I dare not say more. Those holding clandestine meetings at night, I pray that their nocturnal actions will be exposed in the daylight. While 90 out of 100 individuals are content with your efforts, it is the 10 dissatisfied ones who will publicly denounce you and conspire to undermine you.”

“I lead my life on a day-to-day basis. God will see me through; He knows my intentions, my conscience, and the desires of the majority of our members, and for them, I am forever grateful.”

On the court order against him, Oshiomhole commented;

“Yesterday morning, I was surprised to learn from the news that an FCT High Court had suspended me as national chairman. It is worth noting that one of the individuals who took legal action against me was my vice chairman (Northeast), Mustapha Salihu, along with four others. However, our legal advisors have maintained that the FCT High Court lacks jurisdiction when a federal agency is involved. Moreover, the purported suspension by my ward, where nine persons proclaimed my removal, does not align with my role as the national chairman, elected at a national convention by over 7,000 delegates.”

“The court, contrary to all judicial precedence, issued an interim order to halt my function without the full facts being presented, adjourning the case to April 7.”

“Thankfully, this afternoon, a federal high court has issued an order restraining the supposed suspension by my ward in Edo State.”

“I felt it was my duty to inform President Buhari about this development. I showed the president the resolutions of my ward, stating clearly that I have their vote of confidence. It is perplexing how the court could interpret a vote of confidence as a vote of no confidence.”
