Alleged Assault: Nollywood Actress Tonto Dikeh and Bodyguard Summoned to Court

Summoned by the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Wuse Zone 6, popular Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh and her bodyguard, known as Gbenga, are facing charges of assault and trespass.

Case number CR/359/2024 was filed by Elvis Abuyere, the Chief Executive of Skyewise Group Limited, who owns a car dealership in Abuja.

The court summons, dated August 6, 2024, requires both defendants to appear before the court on August 24, 2024, to address the allegations brought against them.

According to the complaint, Dikeh approached the car company in January to purchase a brand-new Changan Uni-K 2023 model from Mikano Motors.

Abuyere, who had a dealership relationship with Mikano, made a full payment of N85 million for the car on behalf of Dikeh. It was agreed that Dikeh would pay the remaining balance in installments within three months upon receiving the car.

Dikeh initially paid with her used 2008/2009 Lexus valued at N37 million. She later made an extra payment of N3.5 million but failed to settle the remaining balance by the end of April, breaching the agreement.

On May 1, Abuyere repossessed the car from Dikeh after failed attempts to collect the outstanding balance. Dikeh later made payments totaling N42.5 million but still owed N2.1 million.

On July 30, Dikeh requested service for the car from the company. After completion of the repairs, she was asked to pay the remaining N2.7 million. Dikeh, along with her bodyguard, forcefully entered the premises of the complainant in Maitama, Abuja, resulting in “criminal trespass.”

Additionally, Dikeh is accused of assaulting the complainant and his staff, disrupting business operations, damaging property, and making threats to harm the complainant’s business on social media. They were later apprehended by the police.

Recently, the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit summoned Dikeh to their headquarters to investigate criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery allegations among others.

Addressing the situation on her Instagram, Dikeh emphasized her commitment to abiding by the law and denied any involvement in criminal activities or wrongdoings.

In her statement, Dikeh clarified, “I have never been arrested or faced any warrants by the Nigeria police. I will always cooperate with law enforcement but will not tolerate false accusations or defamation against me.”
