All Progressives Congress schedules primary elections for August 22 ahead of Imo LG polls

The APC in Imo State has set August 22, 2024, as the date for its primary elections in preparation for the upcoming local government polls.

Announcing this decision on behalf of the State Executive Committee was MacDonald Ebere, the State Chairman of the party.

Emphasizing that the party is fully prepared for a transparent process, he advised aspiring candidates to maintain decorum throughout the exercise and its aftermath.

The party stated that automatic delegates would include party executive members for the primary elections.

A growing demand has been observed among party members at the Local Government and Ward levels to allow all card-carrying members to participate in the primaries to ensure fairness, equity, and justice.

Similarly, the party’s State Organizing Secretary, Ikechukwu Sunday Umeh, encouraged contestants to engage with their constituents to ensure a widely acceptable process at the council level.

He also mentioned the party’s commitment to compensating unsuccessful candidates, emphasizing the importance of a successful performance in the main elections.
