Aliko Dangote’s Potential Acquisition of French Football Club

Reports suggest that Aliko Dangote, the wealthiest individual in Africa and the leader of a prominent Nigerian conglomerate, is on the verge of acquiring the French Ligue 2 team Valenciennes.

French media outlets claim that the CEO of the Dangote Group is in talks to buy a 60 percent stake in the team.

Prior to this, the Dangote Group, the largest industrial conglomerate in Africa, had shown interest in purchasing the Premier League team Arsenal, although the deal did not materialize.

Valenciennes, established in 1913, has played its home matches at the Stade du Hainaut.

The team has spent 40 seasons in Ligue 1 and 36 in Ligue 2, winning the Ligue 2 championship twice, but never securing the Ligue 1 championship.
