ALGON denies accusations of diverting palliatives in Taraba

Claims suggesting that local government chairmen in Taraba State diverted Federal Government palliatives meant for the state have been refuted by the leadership of the Taraba State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).

In a statement issued on Monday in Jalingo, Alhaji Aminu Hassan, the Taraba ALGON chairman, dismissed the allegations, asserting that the association would never engage in such misconduct of taking away food supplies intended for the state’s vulnerable population.

He highlighted the firm dedication of all local government council chairmen in the state to upholding good governance.

“The council chairmen in Taraba State are individuals of integrity who would not stoop so low as to profit from the sale of resources designated for their constituents,” Hassan stated.

“We remain resolute in our commitment as duly elected chairmen entrusted with the responsibility of delivering essential democratic dividends to our citizens.”

In a bid to quell the public uproar following the alleged misappropriation of Federal Government palliatives recently dispatched to the state, ALGON assured the public that they would diligently investigate the purported irregularities.

The aid package, consisting of rice, maize, guinea corn, and fertilizers, was rumored to have been unlawfully seized by the council chairmen.
