Alan Shearer states that Man Utd is set to part ways with Ten Hag, regardless of FA Cup outcome

An opinion shared by Alan Shearer, a legendary figure at Newcastle United, is that Manchester United has already made a firm decision regarding Erik ten Hag’s future.

Shearer insists that the Dutchman will be relieved of his duties even if he manages to guide the team to an FA Cup victory.

Manchester United has secured a spot in the final of the FA Cup after a nerve-wracking win over Coventry City in a penalty shootout.

The Red Devils struggled after taking a three-goal lead against the Championship side but eventually triumphed with a 4-2 win in the shootout.

Despite Ten Hag’s tenure, Manchester United has failed to surpass the previous season’s achievements of finishing third in the league and claiming the Carabao Cup.

Currently, their chances of qualifying for the Champions League are dim after their early exit from the competition this season.

Speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer expressed, “I believe Manchester United’s managerial situation has been predetermined. Even if they secure the FA Cup, I believe his time is up.

“The triumph in the FA Cup won’t significantly alter his future. While it may be disheartening or unjust, my intuition suggests that winning the FA Cup won’t be sufficient to retain his position.

“Considering the players, their mentality, league standings, aspirations, and the pace at which they aim to progress, I am convinced that his departure is already a foregone conclusion.”
