Akpabio Issues Warning to MDAs Regarding Non-Compliance with Resolutions and Laws

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has sternly warned Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the government about the consequences of non-compliance with Senate resolutions and laws.

Represented by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin at a National Workshop on Legislative Compliance in Abuja, Akpabio emphasized the Senate’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and stressed the importance of MDAs adhering to Senate resolutions.

The workshop, organized in collaboration with Green Mount Consulting Ltd, focused on the imperative of legislative compliance in deepening democracy and ensuring good governance.

Akpabio firmly stated that non-compliance with Senate resolutions is unacceptable, as it undermines the foundation of the country’s democracy.

Opeyemi Bamidele, the Senate leader, echoed the significance of legislative compliance, highlighting its role in maintaining the rule of law within a democracy. He emphasized the need for senators to adhere to their own resolutions and for the legislative compliance committee to ensure compliance.

Garba Maidoki, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance, reaffirmed the 10th Senate’s commitment to addressing compliance issues. He stressed the importance of collaboration between the Senate and MDAs to improve the country’s compliance with laws and resolutions.

Senator Ayogu Eze emphasized the critical role of the compliance committee and urged its members to develop an agenda to enhance the country’s compliance with laws. He emphasized that Nigeria has the potential to thrive if the right actions are taken.

According to Eze, the Senate’s warning to MDAs is a clear message that adherence to the rule of law is essential for the country’s progress.
