Ajayi and Ashe Progress to Men’s 100m Semifinals at Paris 2024 Olympics


Showing impressive performance, Kanyinsola Ajayi and Favour Ashe have secured spots in the men’s 100m semi-finals at the 2024 Olympic Games, marking their debut at the prestigious event. Ajayi outpaced Olympics champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs in Heat 5, clocking 10.02s compared to Jacobs’ 10.05s. Ghana’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu took third place with a time of 10.06s.

In a different heat, Ashe finished fourth behind Oblique Seville from Jamaica, Abdul Hakim Sani Brown from Japan, and Thailand’s Thurpool Bonboon, but managed to secure his spot in the semis as the last non-automatic qualifier.

Switching to swimming, Adaku Nwandu claimed the second position in Heat 6 of the women’s 50m Freestyle, trailing behind Elizaveta Pecherskikh. Despite her efforts, the 16-year-old did not advance to the final round.
