Ajaka advises Tinubu to consider reshuffling cabinet for new ideas

Calling for fresh innovation and ideas, Murtala Ajaka, the Kogi Governorship Candidate of Social Democratic Party, has encouraged President Bola Tinubu to contemplate reorganizing his cabinet.

In a statement released in Abuja on Monday, Ajaka expressed his appeal.

His plea comes one month after former Senator Shehu Sani from Kaduna Central District in the 8th National Assembly and the Coalition of United Political Parties urged the President to shuffle his cabinet, introducing new leadership to ease the burden on the populace.

Nigerians have been grappling with economic challenges following the removal of fuel subsidy and various economic policies enacted by Tinubu’s government.

The difficulties have created hardships for many Nigerians in keeping up with the escalating prices of food items and the hyperinflation affecting the nation.

Ajaka believes that a significant shakeup in the president’s cabinet could alleviate tensions and offer Nigerians, particularly those organizing the upcoming nationwide protest, reassurance that Tinubu is exploring all possible avenues to mitigate the country’s economic challenges.

He mentioned, “Acknowledging the pressing concern of high cost of living, it is natural to seek immediate solutions. However, implementing long-term reforms that will have enduring impacts requires time.

“We need to have faith in the President’s dedication to rectifying our country and allow him the opportunity to tackle these issues. He is on the right path. Let us not divert his focus

“Moreover, I trust that the President will soon consider rearranging his cabinet to introduce fresh ideas and individuals who align with his renewed vision. This could provide new perspectives and revitalized vigor to his administration, fostering greater progress and growth.”

The former deputy spokesman for the All Progressives Congress also appealed to the president to advise his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, regarding his recent contentious remarks.

While recognizing Tinubu’s efforts to mend the nation, the SDP governorship candidate expressed concerns that Onanuga’s rash statements on sensitive matters could lead to more adversaries for the president if left unaddressed.

“I also recommend that the President advises or suspends his Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, who appears to be provoking conflict for the president with his comments on social media. It is evident that our nation is undergoing severe economic hardships.

“As a special adviser, Onanuga should be working towards promoting unity and ensuring effective communication of government policies to the Nigerian populace. However, his conduct and statements seem to be counterproductive. His language has been polarizing and incendiary, creating opponents for the President and his administration nationwide,” he emphasized.
