AFCON 2023: Peseiro to stick to same line-up, tactics for Angola clash

The upcoming clash between Super Eagles and Angola in the quarter-finals of AFCON 2023 will likely see Jose Peseiro, the head coach, sticking to the same line-up and tactics, according to reports from NewsNow.

Having switched to a 3-4-3 formation after their initial 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea, the three-time champions have since secured three consecutive wins against hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, and Cameroon. Their next challenge will be against the Palancas Negras at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, with the objective of advancing to the semi-finals.

Despite a mild ligament injury, Stanley Nwabali of Chippa United has been cleared to resume as the goalkeeper against Angola. Peseiro intends to maintain the defensive trio of William Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi, and Calvin Bassey, supported by Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina and Zaidu Sanusi as right and left-wing backs. In the midfield, Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi will be in charge, while Victor Osimhen, supported by Ademola Lookman and Moses Simon, will lead the attack.

As the team prepares for the crucial clash, Peseiro seems to have confidence in his current set-up and tactical approach, provided there are no unforeseen injuries impacting the selected players.
