Address by Acting Governor of Niger State acknowledges residents for showing ‘restraint’ amid protests

Comrade Yakubu Garba, the Acting Governor of Niger State, has voiced his appreciation to all stakeholders and residents of the state for refraining from active involvement in the recent nationwide demonstrations for better living conditions.

In a public address following the nationwide protests, the acting governor praised the stakeholders and residents as the driving force behind the state’s advancement.

“Your dedication to unity, mutual respect, and constructive conversations is not only praiseworthy but also forms the core of our mutual commitment to Niger State’s progress and growth,” he stated.

Garba also lauded the Commissioner of Police, the heads of other security agencies, and the local vigilante group for their unwavering efforts and sacrifices in ensuring the safety and stability of communities during this period.

“Your unwavering commitment has played a crucial role in upholding the collective determination of our citizens,” he emphasized.

He also expressed gratitude to the media and all practicing journalists in Niger State, recognizing their tireless efforts in promoting government initiatives that have been instrumental in driving the state’s progress and development.

Assuring residents of the government’s readiness to convey their sentiments, concerns, and aspirations to President Bola Tinubu, he emphasized the importance of their voices and pledged to represent their interests at the national level.

“We stand prepared to collaborate with the Federal Government to tackle the challenges that our state and nation are facing,” the acting governor assured.

However, he condemned the violence that marred the protest in Tafa LGA, leading to property damage, despite stakeholder consensus against participating in the nationwide protest during a town hall meeting.
