Actor Kenneth Okonkwo Affirms Loyalty to Labour Party

Denying recent rumors, veteran Nollywood star and politician Kenneth Okonkwo clarified that he remains a committed member of the Labour Party.

During an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time program, he refuted claims of leaving the party, stating, “I am taken aback by your assertion. I have just heard from your network that I abandoned the Labour Party, but that is not the case. I made a statement to prevent any misunderstandings. My affiliation with the Labour Party remains unchanged.”

When questioned about his membership status, he affirmed, “Yes, absolutely.”

Okonkwo further explained, “The issues within the Labour Party do not involve me directly. The turmoil within the party concerns the National Working Committee’s failure to organize an inclusive convention. I believe the leadership should have acted decisively to ensure compliance with court rulings and prior agreements following the convention’s cancellation.”

As a prominent figure in the Labour Party, Okonkwo had previously declared his decision to distance himself from the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, citing concerns about leadership approach and the ability to address national issues effectively.

He raised doubts about Obi’s capacity to secure electoral triumphs and confront the country’s corrupt elite head-on.

Expressing the need for a bold, decisive leader with integrity and a collaborative spirit, the seasoned actor emphasized the importance of strong leadership for realizing his vision for Nigeria.
