Activist Idam to Tinubu: The Display of Russian Flag is Your Responsibility

President Bola Tinubu was urged by activist and lawyer Madubuachi Idam on Monday to take responsibility for the display of the Russian flag by some Northerners during the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.

Protesters and foreigners were arrested for displaying the Russian flag in Kano and some Northern States during the recent protest.

Idam characterized the act of flying the Russian flag as a significant act of disloyalty and civil disobedience against Nigeria’s sovereignty.

During discussions with NewsNow, the activist expressed his views, stating, “The flying of the Russian flag by Northern protesters signifies a high level of civil disobedience and disloyalty towards Nigeria’s sovereignty by its citizens.

“The legal implications of such actions are uncertain, but the underlying message is clearly disrespectful and contemptuous both nationally and internationally.

“Regrettably, President Tinubu should hold himself accountable for the disgraceful display of disloyalty to his government, particularly by those individuals who he claims supported him through their votes. His remarks have not been supportive of the protesters or the current situation.”

He advised the president to bring in practical economists to help boost Nigeria’s economy.

Idam further stated, “I strongly encourage the President to promptly incorporate ‘practical economists’ from any location into his administration. These should be individuals with hands-on knowledge of ‘How to Grow an Economy’ swiftly.

“He must move away from traditional politicians whose sole economic growth strategy is centered around ‘distribution of funds and making public appearances in the media.

“Nigeria requires immediate attention. The current economic framework, which has been in place for years, seems unsustainable. Failing to address these issues may lead to a resurgence of protests nationwide, with our Northern counterparts taking the lead this time.”
