Abia’s Former Speaker, Chinedum Orji, Decides to Join APC

Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, the former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, has made a significant move by defecting to the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.

His formal induction into the APC took place on Tuesday when he was officially issued the party’s membership card by Abia’s State Chairman of the Party, Kingsley Ononogbu.

It is interesting to note that Chinedum, who is the son of Theodore Orji, a past governor of Abia State, had submitted his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, just a day before this switch.

In a meeting with some of his closest allies on Monday night, the former speaker expressed that leaving the PDP was a decision made after thorough consideration due to the current challenges within the party.

He stated, “After reflective consultations and personal deliberations, I have opted to depart from the PDP. It is time for us to embrace a new chapter in our political journey.”
