An individual identified as Rahimat Salaum stands accused of murdering her spouse in the Pegi region of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident.
She disclosed that the woman was apprehended by officers from the Pegi Police Division on Monday, July 29, 2024.
Josephine mentioned that the woman was caught in the act of attempting to escape with her husband’s belongings before being intercepted by the police.
Following interrogation, the woman reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting to killing her husband after a dispute.
“She then escorted the police to an incomplete structure where the charred remains of the deceased were found,” stated the Police spokesperson.
As investigations continue, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, reassured that justice will prevail in the case and encouraged residents to remain vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to law enforcement, the statement concluded.
