A Visit by the Governor to Students in Kaduna Following Their Rescue from Kidnappers

After being abducted by bandits in March 2024, students of Kuriga in Kaduna State received a visit from Governor Uba Sani, who assured them of safety and security.

During his visit, the governor commended the students for their dedication to their studies and commended them for moving beyond the ordeal of their kidnapping.

It is worth noting that a considerable number of bandits had kidnapped 137 students and staff members from the Government Secondary and Primary School, Kuriga 1, located in the Chikun Local Government Area on March 7, 2024.

Fortunately, the victims were released two weeks later.

At the LEA Primary and Junior Secondary School, Kuriga, Governor Sani engaged with the students and teachers, inspecting the upgraded school facilities.

He expressed contentment with the quality of the enhancements made to the school and the provision of necessary equipment, while reassuring the students and their parents about the administration’s dedication to their safety and security.

The governor’s visit was met with enthusiasm as students, teachers, and community members turned out in large numbers to welcome him.

An excited Sani expressed happiness that the formerly abducted students had moved past the traumatic experience and were now focused on their studies.

In a statement released on Monday, Sani stated, “I was greeted with overwhelming emotions as I visited the LEA Primary and Junior Secondary School, Kuriga. The students, teachers, and community members welcomed me with cheers and appreciation.

“I engaged in lively discussions with the students regarding their progress since their release and their academic achievements. Their feedback was positive and encouraging.

“I assured them of our unwavering commitment to ensuring their safety and security. I am delighted to see that the students have moved forward from the harrowing experience of their abduction and are focused on their education.

“During the visit, I also took the opportunity to review the remodeling work carried out at the school, which has been fully equipped. I am pleased with the execution of the project, which was done to high standards and specifications.”
