A Nigerian Army Officer Tells a UK-Based Nigerian Businessman He Dehumanized – We Don’t Have Human Rights in Nigeria

A Nigerian businessman based in the UK, who visited Nigeria for his brother’s traditional wedding in December, has shared his experience of being dehumanized by military officers. 

 

According to the businessman, he and his companions were stopped and tortured without reason by four soldiers from Battalion 144 of the Nigerian Army in the Osisioma area of Abia State. 

 

An Army Captain leading the torture allegedly threatened him with deportation from the foreign country he is based in once the act was done. The Captain also boasted about his brother being the Chief of Air Staff and stated that Nigeria does not respect human rights unlike other countries. 

 

The businessman, @DexyUK, recounted the harrowing experience on Instagram, revealing that they were released by the soldiers after being accused of being kidnappers and paying N50k.
