A New Appointment at BCA as Otti Announces Retirement of DG and Nwaubani’s Appointment

Governor Alex Otti has appointed Francis Obinna Nwaubani as the new acting Director General of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA), replacing Mrs Esther Agu Anyanwu, who has been directed to proceed on compulsory retirement.

Mrs Esther Agu Anyanwu had been serving in an acting capacity since taking over from former DG, Hyacinth Okoli, and was previously the Director of Finance (DF) before her promotion.

A circular from the office of the Head of Service in Abia State, dated July 30, 2024, confirmed Mrs Anyanwu’s compulsory retirement, stating that Governor Otti ordered her retirement with effect from July 31, 2024.

Following the directive, the acting DG is required to hand over to the newly appointed Francis Obinna Nwaubani, who emerged as the top candidate during the recent interview process for the position.

Nwaubani, who hails from the Department of News and Current Affairs, expressed gratitude for the appointment, stating, “I am humbled. Thanks for all your good wishes and felicitations. I seek your continued prayers and support for the challenges ahead.”

BCA, which operates both Radio and Television stations, faced transmission disruptions for about two weeks prior to this recent administrative change.
