A Massive Fire Breaks Out in a 48-Storey Building in UAE (Watch Video)

On Tuesday night, a massive fire erupted in a residential tower located in Al Nahda, Sharjah.

 

According to reports, the fire originated on the 10th floor of the Abbco Tower at 9.04pm.

 

Nine individuals sustained minor injuries and received on-site treatment, as mentioned by Col. Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director of Sharjah Civil Defence to Gulf News. He also praised the rapid response by the Sharjah Civil Defence teams for preventing a major disaster.

 

The police deployed a drone to survey the possibility of people being trapped inside the 48-storey building, stated Colonel Dr. Ali Abu Al Zoud, Deputy Director General of Central Operations of Sharjah Police.

Col. Dr. Al Zoud informed Gulf News: “We have contacted the building owner, and alternate accommodation will be provided to all residents. It is still not clear how many apartments have been affected.”

 

Residents from nearby buildings were promptly evacuated for their safety.

 

One resident informed Gulf News that the fire is suspected to have started on the 10th floor and stated, “It was a small fire to begin with, and we came out of the building as soon as we saw it.”

 

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

 

The 48-storey tower, built in 2006, comprises 45 floors, including parking, out of which 36 are residential floors, each containing 12 flats.
