A 14-Year-Old Schoolgirl Brutally Assaulted and Killed in South Africa

Tragically, Liticha Princess Sbongile Nelson, a 14-year-old school pupil at Graceland Education Center in Elsburg, Germiston, South Africa, was found dead near Elsburg on the East Rand.

She had gone missing on Wednesday after failing to return home from school, and her body was discovered in a bush by community members on Friday. It was revealed that she had been stabbed, raped, and then burnt to death.

Reports indicated that Liticha had been left behind by her school transport and had to walk home after failing to board the bus. Her grandmother, who had reported her missing, mobilized the community to search for her and, with assistance from a team with dogs, found her body in the nearby bush.

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi visited the Jansen family to convey his condolences and assured them that if the school was at fault, he would take decisive action. The department also mentioned that their psychosocial team would provide necessary counseling to the school community and the family.
