Man killed and two others abducted in Nasarawa, police on the hunt for gunmen

The Nasarawa State Police Command has initiated a search for suspected gunmen responsible for the murder of a person and abduction of two others in the Gadabuke community of Toto Local Government Area in the state.

Spokesperson of the command, Ramhan Nansel, revealed this information during a phone conversation with PUNCH Metro on Tuesday.

Nansel had earlier reported that the gunmen attacked the home of Agaba Yakubu on Monday, resulting in the shooting of Yakubu Garba and the abduction of two individuals.

Following the incident, police officers from the division responded promptly, recovered the victim’s body, and returned it to the family.

Nansel stated, “On August 25, around 2 am, a distress call was received by the Divisional Police Officer of Toto Division about the invasion of Agaba Yakubu’s home by unidentified gunmen. One person was shot, and two were abducted.”

“Upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of Toto Division swiftly mobilized the team to the scene,” he added.

“The victim’s body was recovered and later handed over to the family for Islamic burial rites.”

In a subsequent update, Nansel confirmed that efforts were underway to track down the gunmen.

He emphasized the police’s commitment to rescuing the abducted individuals and ensuring the perpetrators face justice.

“We are actively pursuing the gunmen. The CP has deployed personnel to secure the release of the abducted victims and apprehend the culprits,” Nansel revealed.

PUNCH Metro previously reported on June 22 about the abduction of a prominent traditional leader, the Madakin of the Shabu community in Lafia Local Government Area, Musa Shuaibu, by gunmen.

The incident occurred at 8 pm when the gunmen seized Shuaibu from near his residence, shortly after he had finished evening prayers at a local mosque.

A resident, who preferred anonymity, stated that the kidnapping took place immediately after Shuaibu had completed his Isha’i prayers.
