Tragic loss for Mariah Carey as she grieves for her mother and sister simultaneously

The passing of both her mother and sister on the same day has left American music icon, Mariah Carey, in deep sorrow. In a heartfelt message shared on Monday, she expressed the overwhelming grief following the sudden departure of her loved ones.

Expressing her shattered heart over the weekend’s tragic events, Carey lamented the loss, saying, “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”

She also expressed appreciation for the recent moments she had with her mother, stating, “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

Details surrounding the causes of death for Patricia, 87, and Alison, 63, have not been disclosed at this time.

However, Alison’s close friend and caregiver, Dave Baker, disclosed to The U.S. Sun that she had been receiving home hospice care in her final weeks, battling various health issues, including complications with her internal organs.

“Underneath a tough facade, Alison possessed great intellect, warmth, and sensitivity.

“Having known her for nine years and fulfilling the roles of friend and caregiver in recent times, I will deeply miss her. Farewell, Alison. May you now find peace and eternal relief from earthly suffering,” Baker shared.

Throughout the years, Mariah Carey’s relationship with her mother, Patricia, was marked by complexity.

Patricia, a former opera vocalist trained at Juilliard in New York City, had also worked as a vocal instructor and was previously married to Alfred Roy Carey, who passed away in 2002.

Their marriage ended when Mariah was just three years old.

In her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” the celebrated diva candidly delved into the intricate dynamics of her relationship with her mother.

“Just like many facets of my life, my journey with my mother has been a tapestry of contradictions and conflicting realities.

“It’s not a simple black-and-white situation—my emotional spectrum with her is a vivid array of emotions. Our bond weaves through pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration, and disappointment. A tumultuous love binds my heart to my mother’s,” articulated Mariah.
