Guidelines Released by Benue PDP for Local Government Election

Guidelines for the nomination of candidates for the upcoming Local Government election in Benue State have been issued by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

These guidelines come after the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, BSIEC, released the timetable for the elections scheduled for October 5.

Signed by the Caretaker Committee Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon.Oryina Orvaa, the guidelines were made public on Monday.

A screening of aspirants is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, as follows:

Councillorship aspirants from Zone A will be screened at the London Galaxy Hotel in Adikpo at 10.00 am.

At the same time, aspirants from Zone B will undergo screening at the PDP State Secretariat in Makurdi.

Aspirants from Zone C will have their screening at Leach Hotel in Otukpo starting from 10:00 am.

Hon Orvaa mentioned that Chairmanship aspirants who have completed and submitted their expression of interest and nomination forms will be screened at the party headquarters in Makurdi on the same day, August 27, 2024.

Furthermore, primaries for Councillorship aspirants are set for Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the various council ward headquarters, while Chairmanship aspirants will have their primaries at the different local government area headquarters on the same day.

All appeals arising from the screening and conduct of the Councillorship and Chairmanship primaries will be heard on Thursday, August 28, 2024, at the party headquarters in Makurdi.

Aspirants are urged to ensure the submission of completed forms along with their tax clearance certificates, party membership and voters cards, photocopy of nomination and expression of interest forms, proof of payment of handling charges, and academic qualifications during their screening process.
